One person was killed Saturday in a Sun Valley crash on the 5 Freeway.
The incident was reported just before noon Saturday on the southbound 5 Freeway near Sunland Boulevard, according to Margaret Stewart, spokesperson for the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD).
Upon arrival, firefighters reported one person trapped inside a vehicle, according to Stewart.
The vehicle crashed into a tree and overturned, according to California Highway Patrol (CHP) logs.
“Sadly, the patient was determined dead on scene,” Stewart said.
One task force is expected to remain to assist CHP officers, the spokesperson added.
A SigAlert was issued for the closure of the No. 3 and 4 lanes as well as the Sunland Boulevard offramp to the southbound 5 Freeway for about one hour, according to the CHP.
The identity of the victim is unknown, pending an examination by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office.
One Ejected, One Trapped After 14 Freeway Crash In Canyon Country
One person was ejected and another was trapped inside a vehicle after a 14 Freeway crash in Canyon Country Saturday afternoon.
The crash was reported at about 3:23 p.m. on the southbound 14 Freeway near Soledad Canyon Road, according to Supervisor Ed Pickett, with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
Four vehicles were involved and one person was ejected, Pickett said.
Two victims were transported to a local hospital in critical condition, according to fire officials.
All lanes are temporarily stopped on the southbound 14 Freeway near Soledad Canyon for an unknown duration, according to California Highway Patrol (CHP) logs.

One Killed, Multiple Injured After Sylmar Crash
One person was killed and two others were injured after a Sylmar crash Sunday evening.
The incident was reported just after 9 p.m. Sunday on the 16600 block of Foothill Boulevard, according to Brian Humphrey, spokesperson for the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD).
Firefighters found two victims trapped as a result of the two-vehicle collision, according to Humphrey.
One person, an adult woman, was declared dead at the scene, and two others were transported to a local hospital in unknown condition, according to the spokesperson.
A vehicle was traveling northbound at a high rate of speed before crossing over the double yellow lines and hit the woman’s vehicle head-on, according to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).
The identity of the victim has not been released as of Sunday, pending an examination and notification of next of kin by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office.
Officers were on scene to investigate the crash Sunday evening.

Vehicle Crashes Into Sand Canyon Fire Station 132, No Injuries Reported
A vehicle crashed into Sand Canyon Fire Station 132, resulting in damage to the building and no injuries.
The incident was reported at about 8:13 a.m. Thursday on the 29300 block of Sand Canyon Road in Canyon Country, according to Marvin Lim, spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
“The vehicle did impact the structure, it was our fire station,” Lim said. “It was a civilian vehicle.”
Inspectors with the City of Santa Clarita Department of Building and Safety were requested to determine the structural integrity of the station, according to Fire officials.
Southern California Gas Company officials were also dispatched due to the close proximity of the crash to a gas line.
As of 8:45 a.m. Thursday, the extent of the damage is unknown, according to Lim.
